Australia, Italy and Hawaii are the most desirable places for vacation
Travelers are looking for "power vacations", clean hotels and places where natural disasters might not occur, a U.S. survey finds.
Eighty-three percent of travelers surveyed unwind in fewer than two days of vacation, and 94 percent in fewer than four days, finds a survey of 3,000 world travelers for Web site TripAdvisor, conducted by independent market research firm, Questus.
Americans seem to be twice as "germaphobic" as travelers from other parts of the world, but 22 percent of all world travelers won't leave home without one of the following: linens, pillow, disinfectant/cleaning supplies or shower shoes.
Australia, Italy and Hawaii topped the list of most desirable place for vacation.
Adventure activities such as heli-skiing, whitewater rafting and bungee jumping were the top activities sought by vacationers, with gambling a close second.
Sixty-five percent have been to a destination known to have celebrity guests, while 85 percent consider hurricanes, tsunamis and earthquakes as a factor when choosing travel destinations.
