Puerto Rican spend $4,000 million a year in gambling

The worker in charge of controlling the legality of the casinos, has indicated that, most of the people that leave money in these places are residents and not tourists.
Padilla, Commissioner of Finance Institutions, said that in 2005 the table games made $437 million and, added to the slot machines which is about $3.5 thousand million, sum up $4thousand million in chance games.
He also indicated that the casinos didn’t suffer severe changes during 2006, therefore it is estimated that the statistics of this year will reach numbers similar to the year 2005.
Padilla clarified that the number of $4thousand million are only taken into consideration the money that comes from the legal casinos, because they don’t have the numbers of the others.
