A service that will bring women back home really safe
London women will now be able to call one of the fifteen pink taxis property of “Pink Ladys”, a company that was created with the only purpose of providing services to women and making anything possible to make them feel comfortable while going back home.
“We have the right to feel safe when we come back home”, assured to EFE Tina Dutton, one of the company’s founders. “At the moment, we only offer services for women who live in the Downtown, but we are planning to expand our services to the zone 3 (subway)”, she added.
With this idea, “unique in the entire world”, according to them, Tina Dutton and Andrea Winders are trying to solve the problem of robberies and rapes that many women suffer when coming back home in illegal taxis. These taxis are particular vehicles that drive without license in the United Kingdom.
Although robbery and rape statistics have decreased recently due to numerous campaigns promoted by authorities, in London women suffer an average of 10 monthly crimes in illegal taxis.
