The novelty was the inclusion of two men from the Olimpyque Lyon of France: the forward Fred replacing Ricardo Olivera, and the midfielder Cris who will be replacing Roque Junior (who is injured and won’t be able to play).
Also, the goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni, who plays in the actual winner Sao Paulo, was called up instead of the traditionally called Marcos who is recovering of an injury.
Brazil are grouped with Croatia, Australia and Japan at the finals in Germany which begin on 9 June.
Here’s the squad:
Goalkeepers: Dida (AC Milán), Julio Cesar (Inter Milan), Rogerio Ceni (São Paulo).
Defenders: Cafu (AC Milán), Cicinho (Real Madrid), Lucio (Bayern Múnich), Juan (Bayer Leverkusen), Roberto Carlos (Real Madrid), Gilberto (Hertha Berlín), Cris (Olympique Lyon), Luisao (Benfica).
