Gambling promotes education in Mexico
Lottery ticket will have a Universia theme
The Mexican National Lottery will recognize the outstanding work of the Universia Foundation in the development of Mexico’s higher education system, dedicating the theme of its latest lottery ticket which will be played this July 29th and will give out a prize of 10,000,000 Mexican pesos (approximately 995,000 US dollars). It is the first time that a private organization receives this distinction, which is traditionally given to civil institutions.

From its origins in 1771, the Mexican National Lottery has played an important role in public charity, designating its resources to projects which support different social causes such as employment creation, health and nutrition programs for the whole country.

The Universia Foundation, developed by the Santander group, is a private nonprofit organization with the objective of promoting education, research and formation of students, with special emphasis in the University level, in the frame of the society of knowledge, using the new telecommunications technologies as an instrument.

The incorporation of Universia to the lottery tickets is an impulse to the Mexican education system, delivering to the community the message of one of the greatest education networks in the whole world. In fact, Universia is the biggest university network in Latin America and Spain, with 1,070 higher education members, 398 of which are Mexican.
