Disney poll: More stars can identify with Goofy
John Stamos, Kelsey Grammer and Jim Belushi are goofy for Goofy, while David Arquette, Peyton Manning and Terry Bradshaw are daffy about Donald Duck, a Disney survey shows.

In a poll of 45 actors, musicians and athletes, 20 percent most identified with the Disney animated character Goofy.

Noncelebrities agreed, with 15 percent of 8,000 consumer respondents also selecting Mickey Mouse's best friend as the character they relate to the most.

Oprah Winfrey topped the list of the most desired Disney celebrity travel companion, at 16 percent. Clint Eastwood placed second with 11 percent, and Julie Andrews was third, with 8 percent.

• Actress Jennifer Garner's hometown of Charleston, W.Va., threw a massive baby shower for the mom-to-be and husband Ben Affleck - but the gifts went to charity. Garner and Affleck were not in attendance.

The promotion benefited the baby pantry for Starting Points, a nonprofit group serving children and the families of children age 8 and under.

• U.S. punk rocker Patti Smith has received one of France's top cultural honors. Smith, 58, was presented with the insignia of Commander of the Order of the Arts and Letters by Culture Minister Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres on Sunday in Paris.

• Hollywood's longest box office losing streak may be over, thanks to a heroic rescue by "Fantastic Four," a Marvel Comics adaptation that snared a shockingly big $56 million weekend take, according to studio estimates Sunday. The top 12 movies earned an estimated $140.9 million, up 2.26 percent from the $137.8 earned by last year's top 12 on the same weekend, according to figures released by Exhibitor Relations Co.

"War of the Worlds," took in a hefty $31.3 million in its second weekend in theaters, dropping to second place.

"Batman Begins," finished in third place by earning an estimated $10.2 million. Opening in fourth place was the thriller "Dark Water," a Disney release with an estimated $10.1 million.

• Frances Langford, whose steamy rendition of "I'm in the Mood for Love" captivated soldiers when she was part of Bob Hope's USO tours during World War II, died Monday at the age of 92. Langford, shown at left with her 1936 poster, had been ill with congestive heart failure and died at her home in Jensen Beach, Fla. Langford , joined Hope's troupe to boost wartime morale at military bases and hospitals in Great Britain, Italy, North Africa and the South Pacific. She also entertained soldiers in Korea and Vietnam.

• Tiffani Thiessen, who played Kelly Kaposki on "Saved by the Bell," wed actor Brady Smith over the weekend. The marriage was confirmed Monday by Thiessen's publicist. After becoming engaged earlier this year, the couple were married Saturday at a private estate in Montecito, Calif.

Thiessen, 31, and Smith, 33, were surrounded by friends and family for a daytime garden wedding, People magazine reported. It is the first marriage for both.
