The authorities of Casino Rouge have proposed to change the name of the riverboat casino and the Louisiana Gaming Control Board has unanimously approved their plans. The new name of the casino would be Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge and it would be changed in early 2007.
Penn National Gaming, owner of the Casino Rouge, has spent $8.5 million in a complete renovation of the facility. “The name change will take effect when the renovation is complete,” Jon Zimmerman, General Manager, explained.
On Tuesday, the Gaming Control Board also allowed Pinnacle Entertainment to change company names before moving a Lake Charles Casino boat to Baton Rouge. However, the Board has yet to approve the company’s plans to transfer the casino permit.
