The Russian Government hires actors to pretend to be gambling addicts
In an attempt to fight compulsive gambling, the Russian government has hired a group of actors to pretend to be beggars and tell people their stories as victims of a gambling addiction.
The actors will tell the people passing by that they were once rich executives but lost everything they had, including their families, when they became addicted to gambling. According to the plan, the actors will seat outside casinos in Moscow.
The original measure came after the Moscow Supreme Court overturned a law that casinos could only be built outside the city. The ruling worries officials that fear the city could be invaded by gambling addicts.
The actors will be selected by a city council committee.
