60 countries at GIGSE 2006 in Canada
Montreal received the world’s gaming industry with great success
The world of online gaming held the most important conference and exhibition last 16th to 18th May, which also collected more than $130,000 dollars for charity throughout the event. The eighth Global Interactive Gaming Summit and Exhibition (GIGSE) took place in Montreal and was organized by River City Group. It received 1,800 visitors from 60 countries, and 127 companies exhibited their products or sponsored the main events during the meeting.

“The interactive gaming industry has grown and its participants are getting together every year in order to discuss ideas”, said Sue Schneider, CEO of River City Group. Speaker Lawrence Lessig, Professor at Stanford University, presented his views about the industry, legal improvements, fraud control and marketing innovations. As expected, the exhibition center also served for the launching of many products, including new software and methods of payment.

Besides, the event raised $133,000 dollars for Gordon House Association, a British organization that provides assistance to compulsive players and helps to prevent gaming addiction.

River City Group will co-produce the European i-Gaming Congress (EiG) to be held next October in Barcelona, Spain, as well as many other regional events in the field.
